Kentucky snaps SEC losing skid with first win at Auburn in 16 years

AUBURN, AL. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky snapped its 10-game conference losing streak with a 10–3 victory over Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. After last week’s offensive shootout against Tennessee, the Wildcats found themselves in a completely different kind of game — a defensive battle against the Tigers on Saturday night.

Kentucky’s opening 10-play drive of the second half produced the only touchdown of the game. Looking for a spark, Auburn made a quarterback change from Ashton Daniels to Jackson Arnold, their previous starter, before switching back to Daniels after two possessions with Arnold under center. The Wildcats held off a late Auburn rally to secure the seven-point win.

The Kentucky offense struggled throughout. Cutter Boley, who threw five touchdowns against Tennessee last week, had a tough outing, completing 18 of 29 passes for 161 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. The running game also had trouble against Auburn’s defensive front, as Seth McGowan managed just 53 yards on 21 carries — an average of 2.5 yards per attempt. Senior wide receiver Kendrick Law led the team in both receptions and receiving yards, catching six passes for 49 yards and Kentucky’s lone touchdown.

Defensively, the Wildcats looked much improved from last week’s performance against Tennessee. Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels was held to 13-of-28 passing for 108 yards and one interception, while Kentucky’s defense racked up six sacks. The Wildcats also limited Auburn’s run-heavy offense to under 120 rushing yards and controlled the line of scrimmage for most of the night. In total, Auburn managed just 241 yards of offense.

Kentucky will return home next week to face the Florida Gators (3–5, 2–3) at Kroger Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
