Quiet weather continues into the mid-week

Look for warmer temperatures as highs climb back into the 80s.
T.G. Shuck,

It was another delightful day on Tuesday across Central and Eastern Kentucky as a broad area of high pressure dominated the weather across the eastern part of the country. After starting out in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees, temperatures surged nicely through the day with afternoon highs climbing back into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Humidity levels stayed low with plenty of dry air in place so it was definitely comfortable to be out and about from start to finish.

The mid-week looks nice as dry conditions persist across the region into Wednesday. The big story will be the slowly warming temperatures as afternoon highs climb back into the mid-80s so it should feel like late summer. Look for a mostly sunny day despite some mid-level energy off to our northwest, which may produce a few scattered clouds at times but those should be confined to the daylight hours and with such dry air at the surface, we’ll continue to enjoy more quiet weather.

The late week will feature more of the same with more of a summer-like feel to the air but without the typically muggy conditions. Afternoon highs look to climb into the mid and even upper 80s by Friday so it will definitely feel pretty warm especially if you are out in the direct sunlight for any length of time. Unlike last week, this Friday evening should be pretty ideal for high school football with mainly clear skies and comfortably warm temperatures for all the games across the region.

The extended stretch of dry weather should carry over into the weekend but it will definitely be on the warm to hot side as we hit the home stretch of the official summer season. With more sunshine and highs into the upper 80s, make sure and hydrate properly and use plenty of sunscreen if you are going to be enjoying outdoor activities this weekend given the anticipated warmth. Fortunately the Cats game against Eastern Michigan is a 7:30pm kickoff so it looks to be a fantastic evening out at Kroger Field with temperatures dropping through the 70s. A weak frontal boundary system looks to drop through the Ohio Valley late Sunday and into Monday, which could finally squeeze out an isolated shower or two heading into early next week but overall most spots will remain dry.
