Kentucky eliminates regional host Clemson; falls to West Virginia in regional final

CLEMSON, Sc. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky put the hammer down on the Clemson tigers Sunday afternoon, eliminating the regional hosts 16-4. Kentucky’s Nate Harris pitched six innings, allowed six hits and three runs, and threw seven strikeouts. The bats were on fire as well; the cats had 16 runs on 13 hits.

Kentucky advanced to the regional final Sunday night, where they would take on West Virginia in a rematch of Friday’s loss.

The Wildcats appeared poised for redemption, leading 12-7 heading into the bottom of the eighth. But the Mountaineers went on to score six runs in the bottom of the frame to snatch a 13-12 victory and punch their ticket to the Super Regionals.

Kentucky finished their season 31-26 overall.
