LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for all of central and eastern Kentucky until 3:00 AM EDT Saturday. This includes the entire ABC 36 viewing area.

The environment across the region is primed for severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail through the overnight hours.

Areas Included: All of Central and Eastern Kentucky
Primary Threats Include:
- Several tornadoes, including the potential for a strong or intense tornado
- Widespread damaging winds with gusts up to 80 mph
- Large hail up to 3 inches in diameter

What to Expect Tonight:

Multiple intense supercells are expected to continue moving across the state into the early morning hours. These storms will have the potential to produce strong tornadoes, very large hail, and widespread wind damage.

Later tonight, storms may begin to organize into one or more bowing line segments or clusters, increasing the risk of widespread wind damage. Some of the strongest gusts could approach hurricane-force levels.
