Spring-like weather rolls along into the mid-week
It should feel great to be outside the next few days with highs into the 70s
Warm and Quiet Midweek Before Stormy Weekend Ahead
We’ve been treated to a fantastic stretch of spring-like weather so far this week, and that trend continues into Wednesday. Thanks to high pressure settled to our south, warm air is flowing in from the Gulf, pushing our afternoon highs into the low to mid-70s. That’s about 15 degrees above normal for this time of year! If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy this beautiful weather yet, there’s still time—just don’t forget the sunglasses and maybe even some sunscreen!
Wednesday Brings Another Warm and Breezy Day
Expect another gorgeous day on Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures soaring into the mid-70s. A weak front will be stalled to our north, but it won’t impact us much, just keeping breezy conditions in place. Southwest winds could gust up to 20 mph at times, adding a little extra warmth to the day.
Spotty Showers Possible Thursday Before Drying Out Again
By Thursday, a weak disturbance will slide in from the southwest, but it won’t have much moisture to work with. That means only a few scattered showers at times, but nothing to wash out your plans. Despite the clouds and occasional raindrops, temperatures will stay mild, hovering in the low 70s. High pressure briefly returns Friday, keeping us dry and warm before we shift our attention to an active and potentially stormy weekend.
Weekend Storm Threat: Strong Storms and Heavy Rain Likely
A powerful storm system will move into the Ohio Valley on Saturday, bringing an increased risk of strong storms and heavy rainfall. This system could bring two rounds of storms—one Friday night into early Saturday, followed by another wave later Saturday evening. Strong winds, heavy downpours, and even an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out, so this is a good time to review your severe weather plan. Also, with the rain adding up quickly, localized flooding could become a concern.
Cooling Down Slightly by Sunday and Early Next Week
After the storm system moves out late Saturday, we’ll dry out on Sunday, but temperatures will cool down a bit. Highs will still be mild, around 60 degrees, with sunshine returning as we head into the new week. Cooler air will linger into Monday, with highs in the upper 50s, but we’ll start warming up again by the middle of next week.
