Good Morning Kentucky! My name is Alyssa Andrews, and I’m excited to bring you Central Kentucky’s most accurate forecast independently rated by WeatheRate. I’m the morning meteorologist for Good Morning Kentucky, Good Day Kentucky, and News at Noon. I grew up in a south suburb of Indianapolis, before attending Indiana University-Bloomington. There, I graduated with degrees in Telecommunications and Social Media Journalism. I continued my education at Mississippi State University for a master’s degree in meteorology, where I conducted research on the relationship between weather and mood. Ask me about it if you’re ever curious—I’d love to share more! At MSU, I became a member of the Gamma Theta Upsilon honor society in geography. My broadcast career began as a sideline reporter for Indiana’s Big Ten Network Student crew while an undergrad. I then worked for IU Athletics, covering men’s basketball in the marketing department as an MMJ. I eventually got into news reporting at WTWO-TV in Terre Haute--covering everything from politics, to sports, and weather. That’s where I met my husband, Brett, where we anchored sports and weather together. We still work together to this day – both here at ABC-36 in Lexington, KY. He anchors sports with me every now and then, but made the switch to the front office. He is hands-down the best journalist I’ve ever met, and a way better broadcaster than I am, but don’t tell him I admitted that. I’ve been a morning meteorologist since May 2017 (that’s a lot of early morning alarms!!). Being a Midwest meteorologist, I have experience covering all types of weather. My favorite type to forecast is winter storms. When I’m not forecasting, I’m usually playing Call of Duty or Fortnite with Brett. We also spend a lot of time at the dog park with our sassy little pup, Lexi, and explore all the dog-friendly craft breweries. Each city we live in, we enjoy supporting the local teams and catching their home games!
