Young Boy Reports Attempted Abduction

A 10-year-old boy ran into his grandmother’s home Thursday after he said he was approached by three men in a truck and asked to get in.

We were told by the child himself, this happened around 12:30 Thursday. Now the boy’s report has the whole city on the lookout.

"He was saying mean words to me and stuff and after that he told me to get in his car,” said Trey Crowe.

Trey said he was on Dallas Avenue near Liberty Road when a truck pulled up. According to Trey, three older men were inside. When Trey said ‘no’, he said one man started to open the door.

That’s when Trey said, he ran back into his grandmother’s home and told her.

"Somebody was trying to get me."

Trey’s grandmother, Shirley King, didn’t know what to think at first.

"At first, I really didn’t think much of it because there’s a lot of people that knows him and I thought maybe it might’ve been somebody that knew him,” said King.

But as Trey told his story, King’s thought process changed.

"You know, I’ve lived here since ’75 and I haven’t experienced anything like this before," said the grandmother who seldom lets Trey out of her sights.

It wasn’t king, rather, a neighbor that called police after hearing Trey’s story.

"It makes a real big concern because not only just for my children but for everyone else’s children. There’s a lot that plays in the neighborhood,” said Louis Chadwell.

Chadwell recalled another time, a couple of years ago when he said someone tried to pick up a young girl, getting off a school bus.

He’d like to find out who might’ve tried to pick up Trey.

"And if this kind of stuff’s going on it needs to be put out in the public so that not only our neighborhood can be aware of it but other people’s neighborhoods also."

That’s where you can help. Chadwell and King want to get the word out about the situation. Trey described the vehicle as a white truck with a green stripe on it and front end damage.

Trey said there were three, older white men inside, all with gray hair, one with a long beard.

If you have any information, you’re being asked to call Lexington Police.
