Woodford Humane Society to hold 2021 Canine Cutelympics

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Woodford Humane Society is searching for the Cutest Dog of 2021.

Entries are now open for the non-profit’s 2021 Canine Cutelympics, a photo contest and fundraiser. The winner of the Cutest Dog of 2021 contest will receive a $100 Amazon gift card. The four category winners will receive a $25 gift card for the Bluegrass Barkery. Categories include Best Dressed, Class Clown, Double Trouble and Halloweeniest.

“We hope to have a great group of dogs competing,” says Katie Hoffman, Executive Director. “It’s a fun and uplifting way to brighten up what has been a pretty tough year.”

Typically, the Woodford Humane Society would be getting ready for the Canine Olympics, its longest-running annual event. The fundraiser had never been cancelled in its 39-year history until 2020. It normally brings in $30,000 in funding for the organization.

Marketing Director Beth Oleson says, “Canine Olympics has a lot of really dedicated fans, and we knew having to cancel for a second year would be a big disappointment. We wanted to provide something fun in its place, and the Cutelympics were born! Everybody loves a chance to show off how cute their dog is, and this is a great platform to do exactly that. Helping all the animals at Woodford Humane while you do it is icing on the cake.”

Entries for the photo contest will be open through Oct. 3, with the voting period set from Oct. 4 through Oct. 17. Voting multiple times and getting friends and family to vote is encouraged.

The Woodford Humane Society is also offering limited Cutelympics t-shirts. Preorders for the shirts are open through Oct. 17.
