Woman’s car stolen at gunpoint

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman was robbed of her car at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in Lexington.

Police say the woman got out of her car at 1123 Centre Parkway at around 2:30 a.m. when she was approached by a man armed with a gun.

He demanded her phone and her car keys.

She handed over both and he took off in her car, according to police.

As police were responding, another call came in that the stolen car and driver were spotted on East Third.

They say the suspect then hit a building with the car on East Third and Shropshire Avenue and ran off.

The building had minor damage.

A K-9 unit was called in but was unable to track the suspect.

Police say they found a gun in the car.
