Woman rescued from burning home in Scott County

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Scott County woman had to be rescued from her burning home overnight.

Investigators say a neighbor came home around 12:30am and noticed flames coming from a house on Lemons Mill Road in Georgetown.

Police were the first to arrive on scene. Investigators say neighbors and officers knocked down the front door and found the woman on the floor trying to escape, but she had been overcome by smoke.

The first responders carried her to safety and she was rushed to UK Hospital in Lexington suffering from smoke inhalation and burns. Her name wasn’t released.

Firefighters say there was major damage to the back of the home where the fire apparently started.  The cause is under investigation.
