Coroner: gunshot wound to the head killed Richmond woman
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Madison County Coroner says a gunshot wound to the head is to blame for the death of a Richmond woman on Villa Road.
The coroner calls 52-year-old Tammy Alexander’s death suspicious.
Alexander’s neighbors say they knew something was wrong when they saw her dogs were loose Wednesday. Eventually, a young neighbor went to let them into the apartment when she saw Alexander on the floor inside.
The coroner says Alexander had been dead for hours. Neighbors say they found a gun near her body. The coroner confirms Alexander died from a gunshot wound to the head, but would not say yet whether there was a gun beside her.
He does say, though, the death is suspicious, and several “red flags” prompted him to investigate.
A woman who describes Alexander as a friend of about 30 years says she wants justice.
“I hope they find out. People need to be put in jail, need to be arrested. That’s what I’m praying for, and I’m praying for her son and her little grandson who loved his granny, loved Tammy,” Kathy Taylor said.
Many neighbors also loved Tammy. They describe her as a generous outdoors woman.
Investigators are trying to determine whether they are working a homicide. ABC 36 will have updates on air and online.
