Woman drowns after being swept away by floodwaters in Bourbon County

PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office confirms a woman has died after her car was swept away by floodwaters on Sunday.

Chief Deputy Michael Jones says the woman’s car was swept into a pond and became submerged around 12 p.m. on Brentsville Road.

Jones says a deputies received a call saying there was a car in the water, but the car was not visible when they arrived.

A deputy waded into the water to try and locate it.

Jones says crews had to wait until the water receded then a wrecker pulled the car out and that’s when it was discovered there was a woman’s body inside.

The victim is identified as 23-year-old Holli Pennington, of Colorado.

Jones says Pennington was working as an intern at Silver Springs Stud horse farm in Paris.

Her body is being taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
