Woman, child killed in Pulaski County crash

BRUNSIDE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A crash Monday morning in Pulaski County has left a woman and her grandchild dead.

The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on U.S. 27 near Walnut Street in Burnside.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, 41-year-old Brandy Montgomery, of Pine Knot, was going northbound on U.S. 27, crossed into the other lane, and hit head-on with van driven by 42-year-old Deanna Jean Chaney, of Eubank.

Chaney’s 5-year-old granddaughter, Kyleigh Hobbs, was also in the van.

All three were taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center.

Chaney was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Montgomery and Hobbs were transferred to the University of Kentucky hospital, where Hobbs later died, according to the sheriff.

Montgomery suffered life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
