Woman and child killed in collision in Lewis County

VANCEBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman and child were killed and three other people injured in a collision in Lewis County, according to Kentucky State Police.

Investigators say it happened Tuesday on KY 8 when 33-year-old Jerrica Adkins, of Quincy, crossed the center line and collided with a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Joshua Chappelow, of Vanceburg.

The Lewis County coroner says Adkins and a child in her vehicle died at the scene.  KSP says two other children in the car were hurt.  They say one was taken to UK Hospital in Lexington and the other to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia.  State Police say Chappelow was also taken to the hospital in West Virginia.
