Woman accused of strangling and stabbing girlfriend in Bell County

MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is accused of strangling and stabbing her girlfriend in the presence of a toddler in Bell County, according to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they were sent to a home on Old Pineville Pike on November 30 shortly after 12:30 a.m. for a domestic assault complaint.

Before arriving, deputies say they were told the victim, 28-year-old Angelica Reid, was taken to the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Deputies say Reid had severe bruising around her throat and neck along with several stab wounds on her upper thighs.

According to deputies, Reid says she was assaulted by her live-in girlfriend, who she identified as 33-year-old Bethany Evans.

Deputies say Reid said Evans had been drinking before the attack and that she was “pushed against a wall, shoved to the floor, held down, struck multiple times in the face by Evan’s hands, strangled until consciousness lost, regained consciousness, and was stabbed numerous times,” all in the presence of a toddler.

Authorities say they tried to find Evans at her home, but were unsuccessful.

On December 4, deputies say they found Evans at er place of work and arrested her.

Deputies say Evans is charged with strangulation and assault.
