Woman accused of stealing purse, hitting 2 people with her car

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A London woman was charged with theft and assault after stealing a purse out of a car then hitting two people with her car who tried to stop her from leaving, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say 29-year old Rhonda Mays went to a home late Saturday night off Willie Creek Road and asked to borrow some money from the people who live there.

Investigators say when a woman went inside to get some money for her, Mays got into a vehicle parked in the driveway and stole a purse out of it.

Deputies say as Mays then hit the woman and a man who tried to stop her from leaving. They say Mays also hit the car she stole the purse out of in the driveway.

She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

No word from investigators whether the two people Mays is accused of hitting with her car were injured.
