Woman accused of stealing $35,000 from Richmond Kroger
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Richmond woman is arrested, accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Kroger where she worked.
Richmond Police arrested 29-year-old Sarah R. Carter of Bruce Court Richmond, Kentucky.
They say Carter stole approximately $35,000 from Richmond Kroger.
Loss prevention had been conducting an ongoing investigation in the past six months.
Police say on Tuesday, Carter was witnessed stealing $1,100 and giving the money to her husband during her lunch break.
They say during a police interview, Carter “freely admitted” to the thefts over the past six months.
They also say Carter was at the Richmond Police Department interview room, where she removed heroin estimated to be one gram from inside her underwear and tried to swallow it.
The heroin was recovered.
Carter is charged with theft by unlawful taking, $10,000 or more, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and tampering with physical evidence.
She is in the Madison County Detention.
