Woman accused of forcing daughter to drink alcohol as punishment
SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Pulaski County woman is accused of forcing her 14-year old daughter to drink alcohol as punishment after the teen was caught drinking, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
34-year old Miranda Polston, of Somerset, is charged with felony first-degree criminal abuse, according to the Pulaski County Detention Center Website.
Somerset Police received an anonymous tip that there was a video posted on social media showing Polston forcing her daughter to drink, which police investigated and obtained a copy of the video, according to the Herald-Leader report.
Investigators told the newspaper Polston can be heard on the video saying they could get a million dollars from MTV for the video. Polston and others can also be heard laughing on the video from time-to-time, according to police.
The girl appears to be “highly intoxicated” on the video and eventually falls face-first out of a chair, according to the published report.
“When she falls out of the chair, you can hear her grown,” Captain Mike Correll told the Herald-Leader. “It is a sad story, really.”
The published report says probation officers had a warrant for Polston for allegedly violating the conditions of her release on another charge, so they served the arrest warrant on the alcohol-related charge in addition to the other one.
Social Services opened a case on the reported incident, but Polston does not have custody of her daughter, according to the newspaper report.
