Woman accidentally backs car into Lexington office building
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Cleanup is underway at a Lexington office building after a woman accidentally backed her car into it.
It happened at the Tates Creek Office Center off Tates Creek Road.
According to police, an elderly woman accidentally put her car in reverse, rather than drive. They say when she hit the gas, she lost control of her vehicle and hit another car, before her vehicle ran halfway inside the building.
The office the woman’s car hit is one of two offices in the building belonging to Baptist Health Medical Group.
Baptist Health says the only physician that works in that office was inside at the time, but luckily heard the car’s breaks squeal and was able to get out before the car hit the building.
No one was hurt.
Baptist Health says there were no patients in the office at the time. The physician who works in the office sees about 20 to 30 patients every three days.
Baptist Health says it is working to repair the building as soon as possible, but until it is fixed, any appointments in that office will be rescheduled and relocated to the other Baptist Health office across the hall.
Police say the building is structurally sound.
The driver is not facing any charges.
