Three arrested in Winchester shooting

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Three people were arrested Wednesday following a shooting in broad daylight in Winchester that left one person wounded, according to Winchester Police.

25-year old Grmyko Chenault, of Lexington, 26-year old Alexssandra Chenault, of Winchester, and 19-year old Armonty English, of Winchester, were arrested and charged in connection to the shooting that left one person injured, according to a report in the Winchester Sun.

Investigators say the shooting began around 4:00 p.m. after an argument between people in two cars in the parking lot of the Tyler Banks housing complex on First Street.  Police say the shooting continued near the intersection of First Street and Madison Avenue.

The newspaper report says Grmyko Chenault and Alexssandra Chenault were in one vehicle and Armonty English, 18-year old Elyna Hooten, of Winchester, Temetrius Stewart and an infant were in the other vehicle.

Grmyko Chenault is accused of opening fire on the other vehicle, which led to the wounding of Temetrius Stewart, according to the Winchester Sun.  Police say multiple cars in the area were hit by stray bullets.

The car Stewart was in took off and was later involved in an accident on Lexington Avenue.  Police say the accident prompted calls about a gunshot victim in the parking lot of a Dollar General store near the accident scene, which turned out to be Stewart.  Investigators say a gun was found near the crash scene.

Stewart was taken to UK Hospital in Lexington with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to the report.

Elyna Hooten was taken to Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester to be treated for unspecified injuries, according to the newspaper report.  The child was not hurt, according to the published report.

Police say Grmyko Chenault was charged with 1st Degree Assault and three counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment.  Alexssandra Chenault was charged with Complicity to 1st Degree Assault.  Armonty English was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence.
