Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller Honored For 60 Years Of Service

The Kentucky Distillers’ Association honored a man Tuesday who has been at the top of his profession for six decades.

September marked 60 years that Jimmy Russell had been distilling bourbon at the Wild Turkey plant in Lawrenceburg.

The Board of Director’s designated him as a Lifetime Honorary Member of the KDA.

Only five other people had received that honor in the 134 years the Kentucky Distiller’s Association has been in existence.

And the prestigious honor was well-deserved.

When Russell started, Wild Turkey was producing only 70 barrels of bourbon a day.

And in 2014, the number had grown to up to about 560 barrels a day.
