Wife Of Former Lexington Police Officer Sentenced

The wife of a well-known former Lexington police officer was sentenced to jail.

Police in Arizona accused Rosemary Vogel of putting fecal matter in her husband Phil’s IV while he was in the hospital in January.

She pleaded guilty to vulnerable adult abuse.

A judge agreed to let her serve her sentence on weekends.

Phil Vogel was the officer who shot and killed unarmed teenager Tony Sullivan in 1994 as Lexington police served an arrest warrant on Sullivan.

The shooting death set off a civil disturbance that lasted for days and led to discussions about race relations in the city.

Vogel was not indicted.

He retired from the police force after the Grand Jury decision in 1995.
