Whitley County murder suspect goes to court in two counties in one day

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man accused of killing his girlfriend answered to charges in two different counties Monday.

On Monday morning, 38-year-old Nicholas Rucker, was arraigned in Knox County on charges of fleeing and evading police, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rucker was arrested in Knox County on July 4 after evading police for more than a month.

Police began their search for Rucker after Vicki Conner was found shot to death at her home in the Woodbine community on May 22.

On Monday afternoon, Rucker was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center then arraigned in court on charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.

Rucker entered a plea of not guilty at both arraignments.

Rucker will be back in court on July 16 in Whitley County.
