West Jessamine High mourn the loss of student
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – West Jessamine High School is mourning the passing of a student after a crash on Saturday.
According to the Nicholasville Police Department, 16-year-old Jared Suarez was killed in a crash on Saturday afternoon while driving southbound on us 27 in Nicholasville.
Asst. Chief Matt Marshall with NPD says that Suarez was driving in the left lane and tried to merge into the right lane when his bumper struck another car, causing him to “spin out,” ejecting him from the car.
West jessamine High posted on Facebook that Suarez “Was a kind and well-liked student, a member of both the cheer and football squads. He will be greatly missed.”
The school announced that “Counselors, coaches, administrators, and support staff” will be on West Jessamine’s campus from 7-8 p.m. Sunday night.
Law enforcement said the crash is under investigation.
