Warning of Winter Weather
The Street Voice Council says it gives a voice to the voiceless.
“Because person-to-person contact works better and a lot of people don’t have access to TVs and all these modern conveniences,” said Joe Laumas, a volunteer with the Street Voice Council.
“We’re going to let them realize what’s going to happen,” said Ellis Boatley, a volunteer with the Street Voice Council.
Laumas and Boatley are going place homeless people usually hangout. Other volunteers said they would also be getting the word out about the potential weather.
“Let them know that there are shelters out there that have a place that they can go to,” said Boatley.
“In this day and age, nobody should die in the street,” said Laumas.
The Street Voice Council is part of the Catholic Action Center.
The Catholic Action Center will be open 24-hours starting Sunday morning at eight o’clock so people can come in from the cold.
