Warmer temps on the way

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Monday! It was a chilly start to the day but don’t worry… Warmer temperatures are ahead! Afternoon highs will reach the mid-to-upper 50s for most of the region. This warm-up will be under sunny skies for your Monday. The warming trend continues through the middle of the week. Temperatures on Wednesday should hit near 70 for most areas, with mid-70s possible on Thursday. This is ahead of more rain and storm chances Thursday into Friday.

A few showers and storms will be possible Thursday with isolated-to-scattered showers and storms arriving Thursday night. This will lead to scattered-to-widespread showers and thunderstorms on Friday. Over an inch of rain will be possible Friday, leading to a low-end risk of flooding for low-lying and flood prone areas. Another chance of rain arrives on Sunday, especially later in the day.

This will lead to a drop in temperatures once again next week. The Climate Prediction Center is already highlighting a large chunk of the region for the increased likelihood of below average temperatures next week. \
