LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! Ready for another patented Kentucky weather roller coaster? That’s what we have in the forecast as you head into the weekend. Your Friday will be another warm one with temperatures making a run at the mid-to-upper 80s, near 90 in spots. This will lead to isolated-to-scattered showers and storms late this afternoon into the evening hours. This may impact high school football games from Lexington north and westward.
This is out ahead of a strong cold front that will be sweeping through tonight and ushering in some true “fall like” air. Afternoon highs on Saturday will struggle to get out of the upper 60s in most locations. There will be a persistent northerly breeze that will really add to the fall feel. Sunday morning will be coldest morning since May for most of the area. You can expect widespread lows in the mid-40s, with low 40s possible in the valleys of eastern Kentucky. Sunday afternoon may be touch warmer than Saturday, but still most locations will stay in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Not a fan of the unseasonably chilly weekend? You’re in luck.. This pattern won’t be lasting long. Temperatures will be returning to the mid-to-upper 80s by mid-to-late next week. We mentioned this would be a weather roller coaster.. Buckle up!
