Warm, windy, wet stretch continues until weekend cooldown
Breezy and Summerlike Through Midweek
Warm and breezy conditions continue across the Bluegrass, with temperatures climbing well above normal for early April. Afternoon highs are reaching into the upper 70s and low 80s, and that trend sticks around through midweek and into the start of the weekend.
Southerly winds remain a key part of the forecast, frequently gusting over 30 mph at times. Along with the warmth, increasing humidity is making it feel even more like late spring or early summer.
Most areas stay dry through Tuesday evening, but clouds will gradually increase as the next weather system approaches.
Scattered Storms Return Wednesday
Rain chances begin to creep back into the forecast late Tuesday night, but the better opportunity for showers and storms arrives Wednesday.
Coverage will be somewhat hit-or-miss, with the best chances across northern Kentucky and areas closer to the Ohio River. Farther south, rain will be more isolated.
A few storms could briefly become stronger, capable of producing gusty winds and small hail. However, widespread severe weather is not expected. Temperatures will remain warm, topping out in the upper 70s to low 80s once again.
Unsettled Pattern Through the End of the Week
The active pattern continues into Thursday and Friday, with additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms moving through the region. Thursday looks especially warm and windy, with highs again pushing into the 80s and gusty south winds persisting.
Rain chances increase Thursday night into Friday as a system moves through, bringing more widespread showers. Even so, the severe threat remains on the lower side.
Watching Saturday, Then a Big Cooldown
Another round of showers and storms is expected Saturday, and this system could be a bit stronger than earlier ones. While it’s still too early to pinpoint exact impacts, this will be the period to watch for any stronger storms.
Saturday will still be quite warm, with highs in the 80s. But once a cold front pushes through Saturday night, a sharp cooldown follows.
By Sunday and into early next week, highs drop back into the upper 50s and low 60s, bringing a much cooler and more seasonable feel back to the Bluegrass.
