Warm, wet pattern continues across the Bluegrass

Warm front brings rain and rising temperatures

A warm front lifts north across the Bluegrass, setting up a sharp temperature contrast early on. Some communities start the day in the upper 30s to low 40s, while areas farther south are already in the 50s. As the front moves through, temperatures rise steadily and clouds remain widespread.

Showers develop during the morning, mainly across the northern parts of the Bluegrass. Rainfall amounts of a quarter to one-half inch are possible. By afternoon, southwest winds increase and bring in much milder air, pushing highs into the upper 60s to low 70s. Many areas turn drier later in the day, but clouds linger.

Mild and unsettled tonight

The warm front stalls just north of central Kentucky tonight, keeping conditions mild and unsettled. Scattered showers redevelop overnight, though coverage will be hit-or-miss. Overnight lows stay well above normal, generally in the mid to upper 50s.

Showers and storms Wednesday into Wednesday night

Wednesday stays warm and humid across the Bluegrass. A disturbance moving through brings another round of showers, mainly during the morning and early afternoon, especially for northern and central areas. Farther south, rain may be more limited, allowing temperatures to climb into the 70s.

Wednesday night brings increasing attention as stronger weather systems approach. Additional showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly north of the parkway corridors. While most storms are expected to be elevated, there is a marginal risk for stronger storms, including the potential for hail. Severe weather is not expected to be widespread, but the situation will need to be monitored closely.

Rain continues Thursday with more warmth

Rain and storms remain possible on Thursday as a cold front moves into the region. There is still uncertainty on the exact timing and intensity, but periods of rain and a few storms are likely. Despite clouds and rain, temperatures remain warm, reaching the low to mid-70s across the Bluegrass.

By Thursday night, the front may stall nearby, keeping showers in the forecast. Rainfall totals through Thursday night could reach one to two inches in parts of central Kentucky, raising concerns for ponding on roads and localized drainage issues.

Looking ahead to the weekend and beyond

Warm and springlike weather continues into Friday, with highs potentially nearing record levels in the upper 70s to low 80s. Only spotty rain is expected during the day. Another cold front arrives Saturday, bringing a renewed chance for showers and storms. While widespread severe weather is not certain, a few stronger storms are possible.

Behind that front, temperatures cool slightly but remain above normal. Sunday and Monday trend drier with highs in the 60s, offering a brief break before the next potential storm system later next week.
