Warm stretch continues before rain chances return later this week

Toasty Tuesday with just a small hiccup chance

Tuesday is shaping up to be another warm and breezy day across the Bluegrass. Morning starts mild with some high clouds drifting overhead, but those will thin enough to allow plenty of sunshine by the afternoon.

Temperatures climb well into the mid 80s for most, running several degrees above normal for mid-April. A steady southwest breeze sticks around too, with occasional gusts between 20 and 25 mph adding a bit of a springtime feel.

Most communities stay dry, but there is just enough energy in the atmosphere to squeeze out an isolated shower or storm, mainly late morning into early afternoon and primarily across the northern and northeastern Bluegrass. It is a low chance, but if something does pop up, it could briefly bring gusty winds and maybe a quick burst of small hail.

Any stray activity fades quickly heading into the evening, leaving behind a calm and very mild night. Temperatures do not fall much, settling into the 60s by Wednesday morning and feeling more like late May than mid-April.

Wednesday keeps the summer preview going

Wednesday continues the warm streak with another round of breezy southwest winds and highs climbing back into the 80s. With a bit more sunshine, a few spots, especially in eastern Kentucky, could even push toward the upper 80s.

Record highs in the region are in this same temperature range, so it’s looking highly likely that we break a few of said records.

Rain chances stay limited again. For most of central and eastern Kentucky, it is another largely dry and warm day.

Eyes on Thursday for better rain chances

After a couple of mostly quiet days, Thursday looks like the next more organized opportunity for rain. Waves of showers and a few thunderstorms are expected to move through the region during the day.

While severe weather is not a major concern, a few stronger storms cannot be ruled out. Gusty winds and small hail would be the main threats if anything intensifies. Rainfall totals generally look light to moderate, enough to freshen things up but not a washout.

Temperatures take a small step back thanks to clouds and rain, topping out in the upper 70s to around 80.

Warmth rebounds before a weekend front

Friday brings a quick return to warm, mostly dry conditions with highs jumping back into the 80s.

Another system arrives later Saturday as a cold front, bringing a renewed chance for showers and storms. This one may have a slightly better setup for a few stronger storms, but confidence in anything widespread or severe remains low for now. This rain chance looks to hold off until later in the day, closer to evening.

Be cautious when scheduling any outdoor plans, as this timeline could shift in the coming days. Still, it appears that as of right now, there will be at least a few opportunities to get outside to enjoy the warmth.

Sunday could also see a few lingering showers, but it doesn’t look like a full washout.

Behind the weekend front, temperatures take a noticeable dip. Sunday into early next week looks cooler and quieter, with highs dropping back into the 60s and mornings turning crisp again, potentially even dipping into the 40s in some spots. Although it’s closer to average for this time of year, it will feel like a big cold down.
