Warm Monday ahead of mid-week rain chances

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Happy Monday! We are tracking seasonably warm temperatures on your Monday. Afternoon highs will reach the low-to-mid 70s for most as we kick off the workweek. Our warmest day so far this year in Lexington was back in February when we hit 73, we could top that number today. There will be a mix of sun and clouds with a small chance of a stray shower or two in central Kentucky later this afternoon. It’s a small chance though, as most areas will remain dry.

However, rain chances will return on Tuesday. The morning should remain dry, with the rain arriving during the morning and lingering into afternoon and evening. This won’t a widespread heavy rain, but there will be heavier downpours possible within any thunderstorms. Severe weather is not anticipated with this round of rain. You can expect showers to linger into Wednesday. It’s going to be a bit of a gloomy day for your hump day, with rain struggling to exit by the afternoon. Cloud cover is expected to remain for most of the day as well.

We get a break in the action on Thursday but rain chances ramp back up on Friday. This round could feature some heavier rain, especially into southern Kentucky. This will be ahead of a shot of colder air to close out the weekend as well. Temperatures on Sunday will struggle to get into mid-40s. Also a reminder, Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday. Don’t forget to “Spring Forward” or set those clocks ahead 1 hour Saturday night when you head to bed.
