Warm and breezy conditions return to Kentucky with rain chances late week

Sunshine and a Quick Warm-Up

After starting off cooler this morning, temperatures have rebounded nicely across the region. Many areas have already climbed into the upper 60s and low 70s, with afternoon highs expected to reach the mid to upper 70s under mostly sunny skies.

For the rest of today, conditions stay quiet with clear skies and a bit of a breeze. That breeze could gust at times this afternoon, helping to mix in some drier air across the region.

Breezy and Dry Conditions Raise Fire Concerns

Along with the warmer temperatures today, gusty southwest winds and dry air are creating elevated fire weather concerns. With humidity levels dropping and ongoing dry conditions across Kentucky, it’s important to avoid any outdoor burning, as fires could spread more easily.

Mild Night with Increasing Clouds

Tonight will remain mild, with temperatures only dropping into the low to mid 50s.

We’ll also begin to see some clouds move in overnight, especially across the northern parts of the viewing area. Despite that, most areas will stay dry through the night.

Another Warm and Mostly Dry Day Wednesday

Wednesday continues the stretch of beautiful spring weather.

We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon highs returning to the mid 70s. A very isolated shower can’t be ruled out, mainly across northern portions of the viewing area, but the majority of Central and Eastern Kentucky will stay dry.

Warm Pattern Holds Through the Week

Looking ahead, the overall pattern remains warm and mostly dry through the end of the week.

Temperatures will stay above normal, with highs in the mid to upper 70s and even a few spots reaching the low 80s over the next several days. Thursday looks dry, but rain chances will begin to increase heading into Friday and Saturday as our next system approaches.

That system could bring a better chance for showers—and possibly a few storms—by the end of the week and into the weekend.
