Voter Turnout expected to be on target

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Many voting polls just closed on this election Tuesday.

The polls opened at 6 a.m. and were opened til 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Anyone in line by 6 p.m. was permitted to vote.

The Office of the Secretary of State said voter turnout was right on target at mid-day Tuesday.

The office projected about a 31 percent voter turnout. The projection is based on past elections and early return samples.

Official numbers will be reported Tuesday evening.

Voter Eric Marr said he believes every vote makes a difference and we should all want to have a part in controlling our own destiny.

“I think voting is one of the most important things and people don’t do it enough,” said Marr.
