Volunteers help Bourbon County community with flood clean-up

Rain and flooding in Bourbon County damaged at least 20 homes after Stoner Creek rose nearly ten feet last Friday, according to emergency management.

Many people said their homes had about two feet of water inside. They say that water damaged nearly all their belongings.

The mess was so bad, Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief sent in volunteers to help with clean-up.

Volunteers spent their time taking out carpet, cabinets and drywall; anything that was wet and could mold and helping with any water damage.

Homeowners are thankful for the help and now looking to come together as a community to move forward.

KBDR expects to be in Paris through next week but could stay longer if help is needed.

Trained volunteers interested in assisting with flood recovery in Paris are encouraged to contact Webb at (502) 489-3201 or at coy.webb@kybaptist.org.
