Voices of Hope to host 4th annual overdose awareness event

LEXINGTON, KY. (WTVQ) – In memory of lives lost, to raise awareness about overdose prevention, and to celebrate the hope found in recovery, Voices of Hope – Lexington, Inc. are sponsoring their 4th annual overdose awareness event.

The event will be held Saturday, August 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Jacobson Park.

Organizers say they expect about 300 guests, and have over 100 volunteers to run the event.  Guests should follow signs leading from the main park gate back to Shelter #6.

Voices of Hope says there will be multiple features at the event, including:

  • Resources for those who are grieving, in recovery or seeking recovery from addiction
  • On The Move Art Studio – kids’ crafts and entertainment
  • Overdose response training and naloxone kit distribution
  • Motivational speakers, including persons in recovery and Van Ingram, Director – KY Office of Drug Control Policy who will present a plaque to commemorate the occasion (formal program 11:00-11:30 am)
  • Free tee shirts, wrist bands and snacks while supplies last
