Vigil held for 19-year-old hit and run victim in Berea
BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Friends and family Sunday night mourned the loss of 19-year-old Thomas Boshears with a candle light vigil.
Boshears was killed in a hit and run on U.S. 421 near Red Lick Road in the Big Hill community just East of Berea on June 2.
Madison County deputies say he was riding on his moped when it broke down. They say as he was fixing it, a car came and hit and killed him and then kept going.
Boshears’ sister, Taylor Boshears, says their family has had a hard time, losing their parents a couple years back and now Thomas, leaving just her and their baby brother behind.
She says this loss is devastating, that Thomas was a loved young man and that they are hoping for justice
“He was our baby brother. He was the favorite you know, the baby. And it’s taken a toll on all of us,” said Taylor Boshears.
The Madison County Sheriff’s office is still investigating.
Donations are being collected to help with funeral costs and to help Boshears’ siblings.
