Very warm temperatures roll on with some thunderstorms

Lexington, Kentucky (ABC 36 WTVQ): Good Sunday evening everyone, beside the breezy winds it has been a perfect day across Kentucky with full sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s. The warm air continues for the next couple days with only a scattered storm. Things change on Wednesday as a strong cold front moves across the state bringing the threat for strong to severe storms. Let’s start with tomorrow and roll forward. Afternoon highs on our Monday are into the upper 70s to low 80s with a few scattered storms possible. Most stay dry, but some will have to endure a thunderstorm.

Tuesday will features high temperatures back into the upper 7os to low 80s under a mix of sun and clouds. A stray shower or storm is also possible, but like Monday most stay dry.

That brings us to Wednesday when a big time front crosses the state bringing with it the chance of strong to severe storms. A “SLIGHT RISK” (level 2/5) is already out for parts of western and central Kentucky. This is the SPC day 4 outlook, normally they only issue severe outlooks out 3 days so we need to pay attention to this threat. Know that this map will change int the coming days as everything comes into better focus.

Timing is a little iffy as of now, both current model trends bring these storms in late evening into the night.

We dry it out for one day on Thursday with afternoon highs in the low 70s, but a wave of low pressure looks to camp out near us for Friday – Sunday bringing occasional rain showers and CHILLY air. There is the potential for frosty or freeze conditions. The CPC outlook shows the below average temperatures across the eastern half of the country.
