LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Monday! We have a cold early December day on the way across the region. Afternoon highs will struggle to even reach the low 30s for many areas. There will also be around of snow showers rolling through the area late this afternoon and into the evening hours. This snow won’t amount to much, with scattered areas south and west of Lexington receiving a coating of snow. This snow chance will be out of here by Tuesday morning, leading to a cold start to the day. Morning lows on Tuesday will be in the upper teens and low 20s across the area.

After a mostly sunny and cold day on Tuesday, we will return to the low-to-mid 40s on Wednesday. This is ahead of another strong cold front that will drop our temperatures from Thursday into the first part of the weekend. There will be the chance of a rain/snow mix along the front for areas along and east of Lexington, with a few flakes possible Thursday morning after the front passes. Temperatures on Thursday will struggle to get out of the upper 30s and low 40s, before falling into the teens by Friday morning.

Temperatures will return to the 40s by the weekend. This will be ahead of another system sweeping through the area late this weekend or into early next week. This system is trending towards bringing up the chance of some heavy rain before dropping our temperatures as it passes.
