Vaccinated state senator from Lexington tests positive for COVID-19

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Republican State Senator Alice Forgy Kerr, of Lexington, announced on Facebook Monday night that she has tested positive for the coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated.

Senator Forgy Kerr posted a picture with her three family members, saying in the last three weeks, all four contracted breakthrough cases of COVID-19.  She says all four are fully vaccinated.

The senator saying she was the last of the four to test positive, so she will be in quarantine until this weekend.  She wrote in her post, “Please be careful out there.  This Delta variant is a ‘new ballgame’ apparently.”

Senator Forgy Kerr recently announced she was not running for reelection in 2022.  She has represented Fayette County and the 12th Senate District since 1999.
