USPS: Not too late to mail Christmas packages

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The U.S. Postal Service expects Monday, December 21st to be it’s busiest delivery day of the year.

This follows the busiest mailing and shipping day at the post office which was Monday, December 14th.

The postal service expects 30 million holiday packages, cards and letters will be delivered nationwide Monday.

Workers say their trucks are packed with about three times their normal deliveries. Extra mail carriers were brought in to help with the increased load.

Thu, Dec. 10 Military mail for overseas bases
Sat., Dec. 19 First-Class Mail
Mon, Dec. 21 Priority Mail
Wed, Dec. 23 Priority Mail Express

The post office says procrastinators are going to have to pay premium rates.

Post offices nationwide will be open Christmas Eve but many will shorten retail lobby hours and close at noon.

Post Offices will be closed Dec. 25th.

Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Christmas Day.
