US 62 improvement project to begin in Harrison County
COVINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A highway safety improvement project will soon begin in the U.S. 62 in Harrison County.
Bob Yeager, chief district engineer for KYTC District 6, said, “This project will eliminate a dangerous curve near the Salem Pike and U.S. 62 intersection which will greatly improve safety on this corridor.”
The alignment will be improved on U.S. 62 from just before Indian Creek heading north toward Blackburn Lane. A box culvert will also be installed at Indian Creek.
The contractor plans to start clearing right of way the week of Mar. 19, weather permitting. The main construction will start in the spring. Motorists should be mindful of lane closures and traffic control in the work zone.
Frederick & May Construction Co., of West Liberty, Kentucky, was awarded the low bid contract for $1.6 million. The project has a Nov. 1 completion date.
