US 60 intersection improvement project underway in Franklin County

Louisville, KY (WTVQ) – Construction has started on the intersection of US 60 at Douglas Street and Langford Avenue in Franklin County.

Douglas Street and Langford Avenue are offset at the current intersection at US 60 (East Main Street) and will both be closed during the construction project to make them into right angles.

A $1.5 million contract was awarded to ASL Excavating Inc. of Flemingsburg, Ky. to complete the project.

Currently, crews are constructing a retaining wall at US 60 and Douglas Avenue in the northeast quadrant of the intersection.

Left turn lanes on US 60 and right turn lanes on Douglas Street and Langford Avenue will also be constructed as part of this project in addition to new curbs.

US 60 will be resurfaced during one of he final phases of the project from the new pedestrian bridge at Kentucky State University to Valley View Drive.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on US 60 with delays possible.

This project is scheduled for completion in September 2018.
