UPDATE: Woman charged with murder from August collision

WEST LIBERTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman was arrested at her home in Elliott County Tuesday and charged with two counts of murder in connection to a collision in August that left two people dead, according to State Police.

Investigators say 42-year old Teresa Haney, of Olive Hill, was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy on KY 7 in Morgan County on August 6, 2016, when she crossed the center line and collided with a motorcycle driven by 46-year old Thomas Tufts, of Flemingsburg.

State Police say Tufts and his passenger, 46-year old Janet Caskey, of Clearfield, were both thrown from the motorcycle.

Investigators say Haney’s vehicle continued into a ditch line, hit a telephone pole and came to a stop.

State Police say Tufts was pronounced dead at the scene. Caskey and Haney were airlifted to a hospital in West Virginia, where Caskey died from her injuries six days later.

Following her arrest on Tuesday, Haney was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Johnson County.
