UPDATE: Victim in death investigation identified

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette Co. Coroner has identified the victim of a death in a River Park Circle home that police have called "suspicious."

According to the coroner’s report, the victim is 64-year-old Shirley Clemons.  The report lists the cause of death as asphyxiation, and goes on to cite homicide as the manner of death.

Police say they were initially called to the home Tuesday evening to check on the woman, who they say they found dead inside.  Investigators say the death appeared suspicious, so homicide detectives were called to the scene.
