UPDATE: Tracks reopen in Falmouth after train derailment
FALMOUTH, Ky. (AP) – Railroad tracks have reopened in a northern Kentucky town where a train derailed.
CSX Transportation said in a statement that the tracks reopened Friday in Falmouth.
The company says the train heading from Cincinnati to Atlanta on Wednesday had 76 loaded cars and 49 empty cars. Twenty-four cars derailed, prompting a temporary shelter-in-place for most of the town. No one was injured.
The company says the derailed cars have either been removed or put back on the tracks.
CSX is reimbursing residents for lost wages and business and out-of-pocket expenses related to the derailment.
