UPDATE: Teenage Store Clerk Shot During Attempted Robbery in Lexington

Lexington police say an 18-year old convenience store clerk is in serious condition after he was shot during an attempted robbery.

It happened around 9:15 Monday night at the Marathon Gas Station on Squires Road.

According to officers, three men tried to rob the store.

And that’s when police say two employees inside the store, the teenager and his father, started throwing things at the men.

Investigators say as the men took off, shots were fired into the store.

The victim was taken to UK Hospital in serious condition. Police say, he’ll undergo emergency surgery.
