UPDATE: Suspect in officer-involved shooting arrested
MAYFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man who was shot by police in Mayfield two weeks ago was taken into custody Thursday, a day after being released from the hospital, according to State Police.
On August 18, 2017, Mayfield Police responded to a call about an armed man walking in the 200 block of West Lee Street. Shortly thereafter, shots were fired and 23-year old Andrew Chamberlain, of Hickory, was hit, according to KSP.
Chamberlain was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. When he was released from the hospital, a warrant for his arrest was issued. He was taken into custody the next day and lodged in the Graves County Jail, where he faces a number of charges, including wanton endangerment and marijuana possession, according to State Police.
Investigators say Chamberlain was shot by Lieutenant Daniel Crowfoot, a 16-year veteran of the Mayfield Police Department. Following the shooting, Lieutenant Crowfoot as placed on paid administrative leave pending the State Police investigation of the shooting, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
