UPDATE: Suspect in trooper-involved shooting released from UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – 39-year old Matthew Preston, reportedly involved in a shooting exchange with kentucky State Troopers has been released from UK hospital.

According to officers, they received a call about an armed man in Pine Ridge.  When they arrived, they say they found Preston with a handgun, and demanded he drop the weapon.  Officers say Preston then shot the firearm in their direction.  Troopers say they then returned fire, hitting Preston, who was airlifted to the Kentucky River Medical Center and airlifted to UK hospital.

Preston has now been transported to Three Forks Jail.
