UPDATE: Suspect In Botched Subway Robbery Arrested

Lexington Police said a suspected wanted in connection to a botched restaurant robbery was arrested in Madison County.

Investigators said Jason Hunter, 28, of Lexington, tried three ways to rob a Subway in the Tates Creek South Shopping Center on Saron Drive in Lexington on May 4, 2014.

Police said Hunter first said he had a weapon, then handed the cashier a note and finally tried to get behind the sandwich counter.

The worker stopped Hunter from getting to the cash register and chases him out of the store, according to police and security camera video.

Police said Hunter’s girlfriend was outside the Subway waiting in a car and later told investigators she had no idea Hunter was going into the restaurant to rob it.

Investigators said the woman gave them Hunter’s name, address, birth date and other pertinent information. 

Police said when they tracked Hunter down on Wednesday, May 14th in Madison County, he had heroin, marijuana and other drug paraphernalia on him.

As a result, Hunter faced several drug charges along with robbery, according to police.

He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
