UPDATE: State Says Times Could Vary For New Circle Blasting

Traffic stops at New Circle Road and Old Frankfort Pike began Wednesday in Lexington.

The state said the work, which was scheduled to run through Sunday, was part of the New Circle widening project.

It affected the stretch between Versailles Road and Leestown Road.

The city had previously said that the blasts would take place around 10:00am and 1:30pm.

But the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said Wednesday that those times could change, depending on how the work was going.

The shutdowns were expected to last about 20 minutes.
